I cannot select my school/company/institution during the checkout process. What do I do?

This could be caused by a number of issues. Please try the below solutions to resolve your error:

If you have accessed this website via a third party webpage (other than www.cengage.ca) and are having trouble using the school picker, please copy and paste the URL www.cengage.ca directly into a new browser window and try again. The Cengage.ca website is not designed to be accessed via a "frame" within another site and this may be causing the issue.

If you are using a different browser, try again using Google Chrome.

If your window is smaller than the screen, please maximize it.

If you are using a Mac, hover over the school picker to reveal the drop-down menu to then select your school.

If you don't see your school initially, please use the scroll bar to the right to scroll down through all the options.

If you are still unable to locate and select your school, please contact customer support at support.cengage.ca for assistance.

How long is the grace period for my digital product before I have to complete payment?

Some online products offer a grace period where you can use the platform for free for a limited amount of time. The grace period begins on the start date of the course, not on the first day you access it.

MindTap and CNOW have a grace period of three days per course week up to a maximum of 21 days. For example, if your course is 4 weeks long, the grace period would be 12 days. After 12 days, you have to complete payment in order to access your course.

If a course is 8 weeks long, the grace period would be 21 days since this is the maximum grace period (not 24 days).

If accessed via a separate LMS (e.g.: Blackboard), these rules may not apply.

The digital product I purchased has expired. Can I renew my subscription to gain access again?

To access an expired product, login to Cengage.ca and go to "My Home". Next to the "My Courses & Materials" header, you will see a "View Expired" link.

Click on the link to see all of your expired materials. Click on the "Renew" button next to the product you want to extend access to.

When I try to purchase a printed access card, why am I redirected to purchase an instant access code?

A Printed Access Card must be mailed to you before you can receive and apply your code. An Instant Access Code is applied to your account instantly, so you can begin using your digital materials immediately.

Cengage.ca has intelligence that will replace your Printed Access Card with the Instant Access digital version, if available. If there is not an Instant Access digital version available, you will still be given the option to purchase the Printed Access Card.

Please note: because your access code is automatically applied with an Instant Access Code, make sure you purchase and login to Cengage.ca with the same email address. We highly suggest you use your school email address.

What is an "Instructor Assigned Only" product?

An "Instructor Assigned Only" product is a digital product that is ONLY accessible if it has been set up and assigned by your instructor. Examples include MindTap, OWLv2 and some CNOWv2 products. If you try to purchase this type of product on Cengage.ca, you will receive an alert prior to check out to let you know the product is "Instructor Assigned Only."

You will need a course key from your instructor in order to access the product once you have completed your purchase.
