Dan Ashlock
Dan Ashlock (Guelph) is an academic powerhouse. He is an associate professor of Mathematics and Bioinformatics Chair at the University of Guelph. Dan came to us in 2004 from Iowa State, where he held Associate (1996-2004) and Assistant (1990-1996) professor positions in Mathematics. Dan received the Outstanding Teacher Award at Iowa State in 1998, the Vinograd Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching in Mathematics in Spring 2003, the Award for mid-career achievement in research at Iowa State in 2004. He is widely published academically: 21 Journal Publications, a whopping 96 Refereed Conference Publications, and 5 books and book chapters. Dan has his B Sc. University of Kansas, Honors Mathematics, B Sc. University of Kansas with Honors and Distinction in Computer Science, and his PhD from CalTech, in Mathematics.
Petra Menz
Petra Menz (SFU) is a full-time lecturer, Mathematics, at Simon Fraser University. Like Jim Stewart, Petra has a background teaching at High School level before settling in at SFU. She was the Math department Head for the Richmond School District from 1995-2001. Before that, Petra was a valued member of the Integrated Resource Package Writing Team and the Applied Mathematics Resource Team, Math Material, for the BC Ministry of Education. Petra has her B.Sc. (U of T), M. Sc. (UBC), Professional Certificate Secondary School, and B. Ed (UBC).
