LEARNING PATH
Introductory Activity. At the start of each chapter, students complete a short activity written specifically to get them engaged in the material prior to the reading. Through polling activities, self-assessments, or brief videos, students are immediately able to interact with the material in new and interesting ways.
Research Activity. A collection of research articles are presented with each chapter to allow students the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of complex concepts. Students are encouraged to compose one-page responses to these additional readings, which are uploaded and submitted directly to instructors within MindTap.
Discussion Activity. Discussion questions in each chapter allow students to collaborate with their peers to develop solutions and responses in an online environment.
Case Studies. Case studies give students the opportunity to practice and develop the concepts discussed within each chapter.
Exercises. Students are asked a series of short-answer questions aimed at getting them to think critically about key concepts discussed within each chapter.
Helper Studio. This video-based activity puts students directly in the role of helping professional. Students respond to clients with recorded video responses that demonstrate important skills and confidence necessary for success in the profession.
Video Activity. Students view professional interviews, simulated sessions, and more as they progress through the course. Students are prompted to answer embedded questions as they watch each video.
Chapter Quiz. Multiple-choice questions are provided for each chapter that allow students to measure their understanding and progress.
Reflection Activity. At the conclusion of each chapter’s content, students are asked to apply concepts directly to their life and future career in the helping professions.
