How to Use MindTap for Finance –

Engagement Activity for the chapter’s topic – Each chapter begins with an interactive engagement activity, to get students prepared and interested in the chapter’s topic. This helps build immediate interest in the chapter’s topic, and helps the student see right away how the chapter will be relevant to his or her own life.

eBook for Personal Financial Planning 14e - The acclaimed MindTap Reader boasts a multimedia rich experience with tagged note-taking, highlighting and bookmarking for easy study guide creation.

As the student reads through a chapter, they’ll encounter all-new quizzes for each A-head to ensure they’re learning as they read.

And since personal finance students have told us they struggle with remembering and mastering some of the terminology associated with the course, we’ve added over 100 Concept Clip videos. Concept Clips are 2-3 minutes long, and each clip presents an important personal finance term in a fun way, making it easy to remember. Each Concept Clips is also accompanied by a brief quiz, further ensuring that students have mastered the term.

Practice Problems – Each chapter contains practice problems straight from CengageNOW. The problems are algorithmic, meaning that students can use them again and again, getting a different version of the problem each time. Students can practice until they’re sure they’ve mastered the topic in question. Each problem also links back to the eBook, so that students still struggling are pointed to the spot in the ebook where they’ll review the content.

Assignment – After they’ve read through the chapter, students will complete an assignment based on Aplia problems.

Branching Activity – All new for the 14th edition of Personal Financial Planning, these activities have been created with direct input from students. Students told us they want the material in personal finance to feel more relevant to them. At the end of each chapter, students will be able to choose one of three personas to represent them as they work through a choose-your-own-adventure-style branching problem. Students will make decisions for their persona based on a personal finance situation having to do with the chapter’s topic. They’ll receive feedback on each decision they make.
