Gloria D. Pickar, R.N., Ed.D. is President and Chief Academic Officer of Compass Knowledge Group in Orlando, Florida. She is a former Academic Dean at Seminole State College in Sanford, Florida, and is among our most successful Delmar authors. In addition to nine editions of DOSAGE CALCULATIONS, the most popular dosage calculation book on the market, she wrote Dosage Calculations: A Ratio Proportion Approach, 3rd Edition.

Beth Swart
Beth Swart A professor at Ryerson since 1972, Beth is involved in curriculum development in the post RN program and the four-year Ryerson, Centennial, George Brown Collaborative Nursing Degree Program. Beth is course leader for the Pathophysiology and Acute and Traumatic Conditions courses in the collaborative program and the Epidemiology and Acute and Traumatic Conditions courses in the post diploma program. As course leader, two primary responsibilities are to ensure quality course delivery and academic integrity. Beth is a leader in creating and using innovative teaching strategies. She was the first to create and facilitate online course delivery as well as develop and teach a hybrid course. She was also the leader in using Personal Response System (clickers) technology in the classroom. Beth is active in publishing. She has written and contributed to articles for Canadian Nurse, has edited two textbooks and written two chapters for a fundamentals book. She has also contributed extensively in providing peer reviews for numerous textbooks. Beth is engaged in two funded pilot research projects as Principle Investigator. As well, in collaboration with the Post diploma team, she is involved in the RPN to BScN pilot project, funded by MOHLTC. Most recently, Beth is involved in Ryerson University/Ontario Telemedicine Joint Collaborative 30 Month Post-Diploma Program for Registered Nurses, a delivery modality to reach small and rural communities.
Myrna Davis, R.N., B.N., M.Ed.
Myrna Davis R.N., B.N., M.Ed., is a nursing instructor at Red River College in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has been a nurse for close to 20 years and a nursing educator for the past decade. Myrna primarily teaches nursing skills, dosage calculations, and pharmacology but has also spent time in clinical settings with students on busy medical units. Myrna originally started out as a diploma-prepared RN, then attended the University of Manitoba to complete a Baccalaureate Program for Registered Nurses and a Masters in Education specializing in adult and postsecondary education. She also completed the Winnipeg Critical Care Nursing Education Program. Myrna has worked in a variety of clinical areas such as medicine, surgery, the operating room, intensive care, and the emergency department. With extensive experience teaching and tutoring nursing students in dosage calculations, she has also been actively involved in developing strategies for assessing math readiness, reducing math anxiety, and math remediation. She is well known by nursing students for her “Math with Myrna” dosage calculation sessions offered in the nursing program at Red River College.
Janet O’Connell, R.N., B.N., M.A.Ed.
Janet O’Connell, R.N., B.N., M.A.Ed. is a professor of Nursing and Coordinator at the Centennial College site of the Collaborative BScN program with Ryerson University, George Brown College, and Centennial College in Toronto. She received her Bachelor of Nursing degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax and her Master of Arts in Education from Central Michigan University. Her areas of clinical expertise are in adult medicine, surgery, and critical care. Janet has taught nursing in both the Diploma RN and Baccalaureate Nursing programs for over 30 years, primarily in the areas of Clinical Practice in acute adult Medical Surgical units, Nursing Skills Labs, Nursing Theory including dosage calculation for medication administration and Pathotherapeutics, including Pharmacology. Janet has been extensively involved in Program Review and curriculum development, including NCLEX integration. Janet has been a reviewer and editor for OERs, journal articles and current nursing textbooks, including previous Canadian editions of DOSAGE CALCULATIONS.
