Darren Hupp joined Humber Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning as a Professor in the Faculty of Business in Fall 2019. Prior to teaching, Darren spent 10 years in sales, marketing, and strategy roles in a large home improvement products manufacturer/distributor, and then 20 years in the financial services industry with roles in customer strategy, direct and database marketing, product management, and campaign execution. Darren’s academic experience is focused on Business Management and Business Administration Diploma programs where he teaches the 1st semester Introduction to Business course and 4th semester Strategic Management (Capstone Course) and Leadership courses. He also has experience teaching Advertising, CRM and Targeted Marketing courses to Marketing Program students.

At Humber, Darren has supported the development of course outlines and created course content for the Managing Strategically capstone course. Working on the development of asynchronous courses has been a current focus, creating student centred, interactive online learning environments for his students like the one in MindTap. Additionally, Darren initiated research to identify the impact of professor coaching on student team performance in business simulations.

Darren has been using MindTap since 2019 in his Introduction to Business Management course in the Business Diploma program where he effectively uses interactive activities and videos for enhancing in-class learning and the assessments to monitor learning. He actively supports faculty on how to best use MindTap.

Darren is a graduate from Wilfrid Laurier University with an undergraduate degree in Economics and a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

In his free time, Darren likes to spend time with his family, is an avid fitness enthusiast and enjoys carving out time to play golf. He recently ‘hung up his skates’ from coaching boys and girls competitive hockey over a 12 year period, and enjoys bringing a ‘coaching approach’ to his learning delivery at Humber.
